This course combines cultural topics with practical Python programming. Your grade is a mix of regular practice, written reflections, a hands-on project, and exams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Assignments &amp; Learning<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our course is built on the idea that learning is a process. Most of our assignments are formative, meaning you can redo them to improve your understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Readings and Programming Labs (25%):<\/strong> Weekly assignments in Zybooks to prepare you for lectures and build your coding skills. You can resubmit these for up to one week after the due date.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Knowledge Checks (15%):<\/strong> Short quizzes on Canvas that supplement lectures and can be completed anytime before the end of the semester.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Writings and Reflections (15%):<\/strong> Regular writing assignments exploring technology&#8217;s impact on society. Your two lowest grades will be dropped.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Participation (10%):<\/strong> Engagement through iClicker, lab explanations, and worksheets is key. We&#8217;ll drop your six lowest participation scores.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Projects &amp; Exams<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>These summative assessments show what you&#8217;ve mastered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Exams (20%):<\/strong> A midterm, live coding challenges, and a final exam will test your knowledge of both the cultural and programming topics covered in the course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Practical Project (15%):<\/strong> A capstone project where you&#8217;ll apply your skills to a real-world problem, consisting of both a coding component (5%) and a written paper (10%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to CS 150B!
